Soapbox Army is a rock band, formed in 2008 in New York. Their self-titled debut was released in April 2009, combining elements of modern rock, alt rock and folk. It went on to garner many positive reviews as the band began playing shows all over the New York area including headlining gigs in prominent NYC venues.
The band continued to write new material, and in March 2011, they went into the studio to start recording their second album, Reactor. They worked with producer Little Pioneer (Craig Levy) in Brooklyn NY, who also produced their debut. With the new album, the band looked to expand their sound and their dynamics, while at the same time making the songs tighter and more concise. The result was a heavier album than the first – Reactor combines hard rock with atmospheric and even electronic moments, creating a dynamic sense of mood. Without completely overhauling their sound, they evolved it into something bigger.
Reactor was released in April 2012. The band is currently promoting the new album with shows all around the NYC region with touring and festival plans in development for the near future.
Dan Tucker - Guitar, Vocals
Pheroze Karai - Lead Guitar
Bill McBreen - Bass, Background Vocals
Simon Fishburn - Drums, Samples, Background Vocals
PRAISE FOR "REACTOR"
"The lyrics, melodies, guitar, drum work and vocals all work cohesively throughout the album as there is not one dull track on the entire record."
-innercitygeeks.com
"...rock with anthemic vocals built for large audiences and a more than solid rhythm section." -indiemusicreviewer.com
"...real true American rock reminiscent of an equally great band The Gaslight Anthem (only with more of a punch)." -innercitygeeks.com
PRAISE FOR SELF-TITLED DEBUT
"The NYC band plays rather reflective alt rock with a mellow, existential attitude. Their self-titled debut album showcases Dan Tucker's crisp vocal tone and his talent for unconventional pop melodies." -thedelimagazine.com
"The band has a reason to be proud of their efforts. This record is a glimmer of creative hope in our overly polished world." -bandsofthebay.com
“The quality of this album is top notch for indie rock. Bordering on indie pop, the diversity of the music instrumentation makes this worth a listen to by itself. Once you add in the quality lyrics, you have something that is worth paying attention to.” -marktopia.net
“Soapbox Army wields a sophisticated debut release, containing great production and an interesting array of unique songs that should appeal to the pop/indie/alternative rock crowd.” -praiseforwallflower.blogspot.com
"Soapbox Army managed to strip away the excess in order to craft a wonderfully poetic debut record (self-titled)." -bandsofthebay.com

Sandy Stones - (Set time: 8:30 PM)

After nearly a decade as a solo artist, singer/songwriter Sandy Stones took her sound to a new level in 2011 with the help of her extremely talented band, Common Ground. Sandy met her musical soul mate, bassist Paul Del Corral, through a mutual friend at a local pub. Not long after their first meeting, she asked him to join her along with percussionist Joe Kane, to form a trio. Shortly thereafter, Sandy enlisted her multi-instrumentalist cousins, Michael and Stephen Saulpaugh to add lead guitar, keys, and vocal percussion to the mix. After their first show as a full band, their musical bond had been formed and “common ground” was established. Whether performing original songs or putting new twists on popular covers, Sandy Stones and Common Ground delivers a unique sound that blends folk, rock, pop, funk, reggae and hip-hop that will not only touch your heart, but move your feet.
