From Brooklyn, NY, Buy The Sky is a collaboration brought together by college bands, mutual friends, coworkers and concert promoting. The music is rooted in classic singer/songwriter form although we find ourselves genre jumping because of every band member's personal influences. Hope you enjoy the ride!
The Mean Season - (Set time: 7:00 PM)

The Mean Season is completely stripped down. CP, GiGi, and Mathias, three members that seem to have been together for longer than their years, create songs that are not overly complex and seem oddly familiar even though you have never heard them before. The music, derived from a myriad of influences, all retain the same soul. The lyrics are intelligent and powerful, born of long lunches sitting in front of paintings at the portrait gallery.
Dryer - (Set time: 8:00 PM)

We started in 1992 in Saratoga Springs. We released our first recording in 1993. We toured a lot, released three full length CD's as well as many 7" records and we're included in many different compilations. We broke up in 2002 and it wasn't pretty. We spent many years not talking with each other until 2010, when we reformed to support a 31 song collection titled Strut and Fret: 1993 - 2002 released on Fake Chapter Records and available on iTunes.
We are currently working on new material for 2012.

Spinn - (Set time: 8:30 PM)

Spinn is an Acoustic Rock band known for their truthful lyrics and chill inducing harmonies. Using different aspects of rock, country, folk, and pop, Spinn has created a sound that isn’t confined to any one genre.
The songwriting styles of singers Cheryl Lynn and Stephanie Spinner combined with the ultra-melodic vocals of Megan Battaglia is where Spinn begins. The girls seem to possess an ability to hit home with listeners, as if the audience is hearing their own story told back to them. Like a fugue and its counterpoint, Steve DeSteno’s guitar playing and Dominick Velardo’s percussion help to bring a calm balance to the often harsh reality of the stories told.
They’ve slightly modified the classic “Female Fronted Rock Band” by having three lead vocalists sharing the microphone to tell their story from different perspectives. Although Spinn’s studio recordings reflect their talent, it is the up-close and personal live performances that truly capture their heart, sparkle, and charm.
On stage, the Spinn girls come alive with wit and giggles that draw in unsuspecting bystanders. Then they unleash what they refer to as “the shock factor”. Picture three girls in 3-inch heels “gracefully” lugging equipment into a bar full of tattooed, leather-clad bikers. The sneering men watch as the perceived “groupies” then take the stage. Have you ever actually seen someone’s jaw hit the floor?

Nicholas Charles Thompson - (Set time: 9:30 PM)

Nicholas Charles Thompson is a Singer/Songwriter based in New York City. He traffics in Acoustic Pop Rock with strong, soaring vocal melodies. His live show is as engaging as anything you'll hear on the radio these days, but much more honest and heartfelt.
Thee, Idea Men - (Set time: 10:00 PM)

While Thee, Idea Men are the first to make fun of themselves in their signature self-deprecating yet gloating style, their rock and blues EP is a multilayered homage to beloved influencers while laying the groundwork for a rich, opulent eight-track album that diversifies their goofy, over-the-top personas. The melodic cadences the three-piece band contrives from their Philadelphian home is strategically crafted but adhered with reputable talent that eclipses many struggling contenders. But it’s not their fault; they were clearly birthed and then serendipitously met in their mid-20’s to form Thee, Idea Men.
After Matthew Jurasek, (guitarist/vocals) was asked by fellow Drexel University student, Tyler March, (drums), to write a few songs for his senior project at Drexel University, the two snowballed the classroom assignment into a full-fledged band, adding Kris Prinat (bass) to complete their trio while luckily adding some good-looks to their somewhat homely group. They soon moved in together and converted their spare room into a studio where the three started jamming regularly just for shits and giggles. Soon the sounds they were making became too rousing that they were all but cornered into turning their stoned-jam sessions into the real deal; a few months later we are graced with Thee, Idea Men – and luckily too.
When asking Thee, Idea Men who actually has the best ideas, Jurasek interjects, “Let’s get something right. We all have the best ideas, hence why we are Thee, Idea Men. And we have them because we are thinkers and drinkers, and occasional smokers.” This assemblage of inspiration and education clearly represents itself on the cover of their album where they chose to wear bold leotards for their photo-shoot, because it’s obvious these three soon-to-be college grads take everything with a grain of salt and a shot of whiskey, minus the meticulous care and attention to detail given to their standout EP “Getcho Groo Von”. But what truly rounds this young band into their old-soul groove is a compilation of raw talent, their genealogy given to the rock and roll greats, and their obvious spirited obsession with music, sounds, and living life in an ultra-engaged fashion. Sucking the marrow out of life, Thee, Idea Men are not only set and ready with their sails ready, but they are filled to the bone with determination to play music for the rest of their lives.

CENTRIC - (Set time: 10:30 PM)

CENTRIC is an adventurous electro-rock project from Charlottesville, VA. Fueled with a vision to produce a melodic blend of emotional songwriting through electronic and rock instrumentation, CENTRIC strives to bring a refreshing sound to the stage while still maintaining the visual energy of an engaging rock band.
The project was born during the winter of 2002 while founding member Jason Judy was struggling to assemble a rock band in Charlotte, NC. Frustrated by the lack of like minded musicians in the scene, he began experimenting with electronic equipment as an alternate musical outlet. Venturing into this new frontier set off a creative spark and by that spring he was out creating remix style music on the spot as CENTRIC. With an enthusiastic sense of musical freedom, Judy left Charlotte and set out in search for a new home better suited to develop the project in. After a rather nomadic year, including spending three influential months in NYC, he finally settled in Charlottesville in December of 2002 where he began working on the debut album, After the Fall, which served as a document to his trials. After two intense years of work, the record was released in October of 2004 to warm reviews from the local press, and was performed live in its entirety at the CD release show, with the help of several longtime friends and collaborators.
Having two years of work coming to life on stage was an alluring experience for Judy, and he quickly began working on assembling a permanent base of musicians to finally establish CENTRIC as an official band. One again, however, finding players who shared the vision became a daunting task, and it was over two more years before the right mix was finally dialed in. The result brought in electronic artist Paul Tucker (Bristol) in January of 2007 as the full time keyboardist of the group. This was major shift in the structure of the project, as Tucker’s dual keyboard coverage of bass, rhythm, and lead sounds allowed Judy the ability to focus solely on guitar and vocals for the first time. Judy also recruited one of Charlottesville’s busiest and most respected rock drummers, Jon Kuthy (Whitebird, Blur the Lines), who had been a collaborator in the past. This brought another major change to the sound, as the songwriting that was once primarily composed on electronics with organic instruments backing them up now, was being headed by a much more raw rock sound over a canvas of synths.
It has been a long and trying road for the project, but with one record under it’s belt, another full album worth of material ready to be recorded, and regular live performances lining up, CENTRIC has finally come full circle into the band that was envisioned nearly 5 years ago.
